How much does it cost to drill a public supply well?

The cost of drilling a water well can vary depending on various factors such as the depth of the well, the type of casing and pump needed, the type of drilling method used, and the geological features of the area.

According to recent data, the average cost of drilling a water well in Central Texas can range

from $180 to $200 per foot of drilling depth. However, costs can be significantly higher for deeper wells or those with more complex drilling requirements. One of the most expensive aspects of constructing a PWS well is pressure cementing the annulus between the casing and borehole down to the first water bearing zone.

It's important to note that the cost of drilling is just one aspect of the overall cost of a water well system, which can also include additional expenses such as well casing, a pump, a pressure tank, and water treatment equipment. Additionally, engineering expenses associated with design, permitting and construction must be factored in.
